Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a diverse neurodevelopmental condition that typically manifests as challenges with social-pragmatic language, theory of mind, and emotional understanding. Its prevalence has increased dramatically over the past decades; it is now estimated that one in 68 children have been diagnosed with ASD. At present, audiologists are involved in initial ASD assessments to rule out hearing loss. Recent evidence, however, suggests they can play a bigger role by evaluating auditory processing in ASD.
