I want to share a prayer/mantra with you that has changed my life. I sing it everyday as a part of my daily practice. It is based on the concept of ahimsa. Ahimsa is a sanskrit word meaning "non violence ". Not just in the literal and physical sense of causing no harm, but also in the figurative sense. It stands for pure and true love towards all beings everywhere.

As a beginning student of Sound Healing, the eight letter word Intention has been impressed upon me as the key determinant of result in any and every Sound Healing experience - either self-directed or in relation to another. It is important to differentiate Intention from goals. A goal is related to achieving a future outcome. Intention is focused on setting the state of how we "are being" in the present moment. One symbolic representation we may use of what Sound Healing is, is: "Frequency + Intent = Healing - with "frequency” as the rate at which an object vibrated (one way of measuring sound). “Intent” is the energy behind any created sound."

Imagine you're a plant and have to listen to music that your housekeeper likes to play all day. Take out a piece of paper and number it 1 to 5. I'll reveal the names of the pieces after this 5 minute test. Turn up the sound. The test will take five minutes. Sit back, relax and listen. You might learn more about the difference between positive and negative music that you ever suspected. Which pieces do you like?

This meditation is to be used with plants and fungi. I intend for it to serve as a basic jumping-off point for the creation of a protocol for facilitating sound healing sessions utilizing recently developed plant bio-feedback technology.

Musical acupuncture is a concept developed by Janalea Hoffman in the ‘90’s after working with many clients with chronic pain, arthritis and other stress related physical problems. Her CD, “Musical Acupuncture” uses 50 beats a minute to slow body rhythms with tones that have a certain vibrational frequency that can be received in the body at certain points of energy, similar to an acupuncture needle. The music can be consciously directed to places in the body where pain or stress is dominant. Conversely, the tones may naturally gravitate to where the body is calling for an energy increase or shift in the body energy, and by the use of a slow, steady rhythm for deep relaxation. For example, pain is often just blocked energy, so by moving energy, pain can be alleviated. Powerpoint included

Short Description
A Medical intuitive is a practitioner that uses their intuitive abilities, or senses to locate dis-ease in the energetic, physical, and spiritual bodies. Some known medical intuits would be Edgar Cayce (1877-1945), Caroline Myss, and Jesus. Jesus being the highest level of medical Intuitive there has ever been. Medical intuition has a lot of similarities to sound healing, one of course would be working from source. Medical intuition and sound therapy can be used together to create a treatment practice that is beneficial to the client as well as self-empowering.

Short Description
Inner listening is a receptive state which requires an inner quiet with which to hear intuition and emotion. In this state, feelings which have been denied expression are encouraged to surface. Denied feelings are allowed the opportunity for full expression without blocking or judgement. It is important not to label or apply past beliefs upon any surfacing emotions. By placing a label upon a sensation or occurrence, it imposes a past belief that may not be applicable in the present. This can stagnate the process of healing by keeping something confined to an imposed belief

Short Description
For decades, people have relaxed and meditated to soothing sounds, such as recordings of lapping ocean waves, desktop waterfalls, wind chimes, and even the low whistle of the wind. In recent years, there has been greater interest and research conducted on the effects of sound on the body and mind. This area of research is referred to as sound healing or vibrational medicine. Sound is now being used for treating various conditions such as stress, anxiety, postoperative pain, tendonitis, bursitis, behavioral problems and depression. While many people are only just discovering it, sound healing is actually a return to ancient cultural practices that use chanting and singing bowls to restore health and relieve pain.

Gil Alterovitz, a bioinformatician at Harvard Medical School, is developing a computer program that translates protein and gene expression into music. In his model harmony represents good health and discord indicates disease. Three examples of research to improve diagnosis and tracking of diseases, particularly cancer are described below. None of the articles speculated on how these conditions once diagnosed could be treated using sound. Allopathic medicine, even at the research stage, is still a ways from making that leap.

The word Naad means “cosmic sound.” The word Yoga means union or “to yoke.” Union with sound is the goal of Naad Yoga. To understand what that means we have to think about the nature of sound itself. In yogic terminology there are two kinds of sounds in the Universe, Ahad sounds and Anahad sounds. Ahad sounds are sounds created by something striking something else. If you pluck the “A” string of a guitar, it will vibrate 440 times per second, creating a vibration in the surrounding air that transfers that exact vibratory rate into the surrounding environment. That is an Ahad sound.

Psychoacoustic Vibrations and expanding our awareness Psychoacoustics is essentially the study or application of the perception of sound on the nervous system. Within the Domain of Psychoacoustics, music, sound, Frequency, and vibration, are all essentially interchangeable, because they are different approximations of the same essence. Now lets consider sound and its effect on the nervous system. Hearing is the first sense we develop in the womb. Sound touches us and influences our emotions like no other source of input or expression. It is a frequency of vibration seeking to express itself through all of us.
