This paper will be a brief overview to certain types of light therapy, and discuss how and why healing with light can easily be added to anyone’s healthcare routine or healing practice. Since the subject of light therapy is so vast, this paper will concentrate primarily on low level light therapy (LLLT) from LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) which produce minimal to no heat. Lasers can also produce low level light therapy. The difference in LEDs and lasers is the type of light they produce; with LED light waves being incoherent or dispersed, and laser light waves being coherent or focused.

When beginning this paper I knew I was starting down a rabbit hole that I would have a hard time being quick and to the point. There are many facets in which I want to keep unraveling and diving deeper, to allow for a more comprehensive look into the world of healing through sacred songs, plants and prayer. Being a ceremonialist, in which I believe every day is a new beginning and that each step I take is a prayer, I have chosen to open the door to a topic that encompasses my walking and waking life. In this paper I will begin to connect the dots between both North American and South American shamanic approaches to plant medicine, sacred songs, and the powerful effect they have on unlocking our infinite potential, by allowing us to start our journey home, in return, healing our minds, body and opening up to our eternal soul.

Perhaps it's because most of these rites have been persecuted or kept as taboo.

My final paper is on the ideal that an instrument can have an archetypal male or female energy. I have looked at many different resources and thought of a couple different elements of how to approach it to put together my thesis on whether instrument's can be determined to be male, female or androgynous and how that could be applied in a sound healing modality or in creating a type of therapeutic music.

Qawwali is an ecstatic form of devotional Sufi music. The music is filled with fast drums, clapping, and ecstatic singing, usually accompanied by a harmonium. Although the style is rooted in religious music, it has crossed into the secular music; you can find it being played outside temples, saints tombs, or in Bollywood films. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the tradition, celebration of Dia de Los Muertos, Day of the Dead, as a healing ritual or modality for grieving the loss of loved ones through death. Dia de los muertas (Day of the Dead) is a major day of celebration in the Mexican culture.
Death of our loved ones, whether it be family or friends or another significant person in our lives, is a traumatic and sad event, but the Latin culture elevates and deals with deep grief with celebratory events on November 2nd each year. This custom has roots in the ancient Indigenous culture there--Aztec, Mayan & other Indian cultures. Later, when the Spanish arrived in Mexico, this celebration was integrated into the Catholic Religious traditions. With the wave of evangelization, the Day of the Dead rituals have taken different forms, however, pre-Hispanic elements remain predominant.

"As defined by the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Addiction is a “primary, chronic disease of brain reward, motivation, memory and related circuitry. Dysfunction in these circuits leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social and spiritual manifestations. This is reflected in an individual pathologically pursuing reward and/or relief by substance use and other behaviors. Addiction is characterized by an inability to consistently abstain, impairment in behavioral control, craving, diminished recognition of significant problems with one’s behaviors and interpersonal relationships, and a dysfunctional emotional response. Like other chronic diseases, addiction often involves cycles of relapse and remission. Without treatment or engagement in recovery activities, addiction is progressive and can result in disability or premature death."

Intention is a word that I have spoken and heard many times. However, I will never think of intention in the same way after reading Lynne McTaggart’s book, The Intention Experiment. The book has expanded my understanding of intention in a way that I never expected. She does a brilliant job of outlining the science behind intention supported by research from scientists and physicists from wellknown universities. She unveils the mystery behind how to strengthen one’s intention “muscles,” discusses the many studies that have measured intention and invites her readers to join the global Intention Experiment.
